King Kong is a film co-directed byMerian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack. The original King Kong was a terrific movie for it's time. After watching Peter Jackson recreate the stop motion animation gave me an whole new appriciation for the work original King Kong movie took to create. Having to move a model thousands of times and create the perfect minature set for every single shot is a meticulous and labor intensive for of art. Innovation is often imitated and ultimately exceeded over the years, but no one had ever seen anything as spectacular as King Kong, but the special effects that were groundbreaking in their day seem cartoonishly crude now. Even so, King Kong is still a great story and the passion and commitment the production team took is evident through out the film.

  1. seeing the behind the scenes clips about the stop motion animation was the most amazing part of the movie to me. It was so time consuming and difficult to make everything end up perfectly but it definitely makes for a better film.

  2. i agree, stop motion photography is an impressive feat in and of itself. the amount of effort that goes into making one five minute long movie clip is shocking. Knowing that however does make you appreciate the movie for the effort that went into it for the time that it was produced in.
